Scope: This SAE Recommended Practice was developed to provide a guideline for the collection of vehicle crush data for various damaged based reconstruction computer programs that assume a homogeneous stiffness and use six equidistant crush measurements. The basic techniques for vehicle damage data collection and the basic interpretations shown in this document are not to be considered all inclusive. For instance, it does not include techniques for measuring top or undercarriage damage.
