【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesasimplemeansofcharacterizingthethermomechanicalbehaviorofplasticmaterialsusingverysmallamountsofmaterial.Thedataobtainedmaybeusedforqualitycontrol,researchanddevelopment,aswellastheestablishmentofoptimumprocessingconditions.Dynamicmechanicaltestingprovidesasensitivemethodfordeterminingthermomechanicalcharacteristicsbymeasuringtheelasticandlossmoduliasafunctionoffrequency,temperature,ortime.Plotsofmoduliandtandeltaofamaterialversusthesevariablescanbeusedtoprovidegraphicalrepresentationindicativeoffunctionalproperties,effectivenessofcure(thermosettingresinsystem),anddampingbehaviorunderspecifiedconditions.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtoassess:5.3.1Modulusasafunctionoftemperature,5.3.2Modulusasafunctionoffrequency,5.3.3Theeffectsofprocessingtreatment,includingorientation,5.3.4Relativeresinbehavioralproperties,includingcureanddamping,5.3.5Theeffectsofsubstratetypesandorientation(fabrication)onelasticmodulus,and5.3.6Theeffectsofformulationadditiveswhichmightaffectprocessabilityorperformance.Beforeproceedingwiththistestmethod,referenceshouldbemadetothespecificationofthematerialbeingtested.Anytestspecimenpreparation,conditioning,dimensions,ortestingparameters,orcombinationthereof,coveredintherelevantASTMmaterialsspecificationshalltakeprecedenceoverthosementionedinthistestmethod.IftherearenorelevantASTMmaterialspecifications,thenthedefaultconditionsapply.1.1Thistestmethodoutlinestheuseofdynamicmechanicalinstrumentationforgatheringandreportingtheviscoelasticpropertiesofthermoplasticandthermosettingresinsandcompositesystemsintheformofrectangularspecimensmoldeddirectlyorcutfromsheets,plates,ormoldedshapes.Thetensiledatageneratedmaybeusedtoidentifythethermomechanicalpropertiesofaplasticmaterialorcompositionusingavarietyofdynamicmechanicalinstruments.1.2Thistestmethodisintendedtoprovideameansfordeterminingviscoelasticpropertiesofawidevarietyofplasticmaterialsusingnonresonantforced-vibrationtechniques,inaccordancewithPracticeD4065.Plotsoftheelastic(storage)modulus;loss(viscous)modulus;complexmodulusandtandeltaasafunctionoffrequency,time,ortemperatureareindicativeofsignificanttransitionsinthethermomechanicalperformanceofthepolymericmaterialsystem.1.3Thistestmethodisvalidforawiderangeoffrequencies,typicallyfrom0.01to100Hz.1.4Apparentdiscrepanciesmayariseinresultsobtainedunderdifferingexperimentalconditions.Theseapparentdifferencesfromresultsobservedinanotherstudycanusuallybereconciled,withoutchangingtheobserveddata,byreportinginfull(asdescribedinthistestmethod)theconditionsunderwhichthedatawereobtained.1.5Duetopossibleinstrumentationcompliance,thedatageneratedareintendedtoindicaterelativeandnotnecessarilyabsolutepropertyvalues.1.6Testdataobtainedbythistestmethodarerelevantandappropriateforuseinengineeringdesign.1.7ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninbracketsareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ThistestmethodistechnicallyequivalenttoISO6721,Part4.
