【摘要】:Safeandreliablemechanicalpropertiesforadhesivesarenecessarytoachievethefullstructuralbenefitofadhesivesinbondedstructuralcomponentsandassemblies.Anadhesiversquo;propertiesexhibitanaturalvariationordistributionofvalues.Theallowabledesignstressforanadhesivemustbeadjustedtoallowforvariabilityandenvironmentaleffectstoensurehumansafetyandpreventprematurefailureofcostlystructures.Modificationfactorscanbeappliedtotheallowabledesignstressbythedesignengineerasdeemedappropriatefortheexpectedserviceconditionsoftheadhesive,orinaccordancewiththerequirementsofabuildingcode.Theallowablepropertiesdevelopedunderthesemethodsapplyonlytotheactualadhesiveformulationtestedandanalyzed.Theallowablepropertiesdevelopedforagivenadhesiveshallapplyonlytoadhesivebondlineswiththicknessesintherangeforwhichdataisavailable.1.1Thesetestmethodscovertheprinciplesforestablishingallowablemechanicalpropertiesforadhesivesthatcanbeusedtodesignadhesive-bondedjointsforstructuralcomponentsandassembliesofwoodorwoodwithothermaterials.ThesetestmethodsaremodeledafterTestMethodD245.1.2Thepropertiesdeterminedareallowableshearstress,allowabletensilestress,andallowableshearmodulus.1.3Indeterminationofallowableshear-andtensile-stresslevels,thesetestmethodsarelimitedbythehorizontalshearandtensionperpendicular-to-the-graincapacityofthewoodadherends(hardmaple,Acersaccharum,Marsh.).Theadhesivessotestedmayactuallyhaveshearortensileallowablestressesexceedingthewood,butthedeterminedallowabledesignstresslevelsarelimited(upperbounded)bythewoodinthesetestmethods.Ifawoodotherthanhardmapleisusedfortestingtheadhesive,thentheallowablestrengthsareupperboundedbythepropertiesofthatparticularwood.1.4ThestrengthpropertiesaredeterminedbystandardASTMtestmethods.Asaresult,onlyproceduralvariationsfromthestandardsandspecialdirectionsforapplyingtheresultsaregiveninthesetestmethods.1.5Time-to-failuredataderivedfromcreep-rupturetesting(seeTestMethodD4680)provideameasureoftheultimatestrengthofanadhesivebondasafunctionoftimeatvariouslevelsoftemperatureandmoisture.1.5.1Withpropercaution,usefulservicelifeatagivenshearstresslevelmaybeextrapolatedfromrelativelyshortloadingperiods.1.6Theresistanceoftheadhesivetopermanentlossofpropertiesduetoaging(permanence)isassessedbymeansofstrengthtestsafterconstantelevated-temperatureandmoistureagingoftestspecimens.1.6.1Ifthesubjectadhesiveswillbeusedtobondwoodthathasbeentreatedwithapreservative,fireretardant,oranyotherchemicaltomodifyitsproperties,thenthepermanenceoftheadhesiveshallbetestedusingwoodadherendstreatedinthesamemanner.1.7Factorsfordurability,permanence,andcreepderivedbysheartestsandanalysis,areassumedtoapplytotension(normal-to-the-bond)strengthaswell.1.8Requirementsforproduction,inspection,andcertificationofadhesivesevaluatedunderthesetestmethodsarenotincluded.1.9Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinfomrationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.
